Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Langsy ("we", "our", "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the mobile application. By using Langsy you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

• Account identifiers. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name. Guest users have a randomly generated internal identifier only.
• Voice recordings. When you speak to the AI tutor, your audio is recorded on your device and sent to our server for speech-to-text transcription. Audio is processed immediately and is not retained after transcription.
• Conversation content. The text of your chats with the AI tutor, lessons you complete, and your language level (CEFR) are stored on our servers so you can resume across sessions and devices.
• Device metadata. Time zone offset (used to reset daily limits), app version, and platform (iOS / Android).
• Profile photo (optional). If you upload an avatar or sign in with Google, your profile photo URL is stored.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, calendar, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide AI language practice (speech-to-text, language model responses, text-to-speech).
• To track your progress and show your CEFR level over time.
• To enforce freemium daily limits (per-user quotas).
• To authenticate you across devices and protect your account.

3. Third-Party Services

Langsy sends data to the following services to deliver core functionality. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

• Google Identity — sign-in and ID-token verification (for accounts created via Google Sign-In).
• Apple Sign In — sign-in and ID-token verification (for accounts created via Sign in with Apple).
• OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral — large language model responses to your messages. Voice audio may pass through OpenAI Whisper / Google / Deepgram for transcription.
• ElevenLabs, OpenAI TTS — synthesize the AI tutor's voice.

We do not sell personal data to third parties and do not share it for advertising.

4. Data Retention

• Voice audio: not retained on our servers. Deleted immediately after transcription.
• Chat messages, lesson history, CEFR level, profile: retained as long as your account is active.
• Per-call AI accounting logs (no audio or text content): retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and cost tracking.

5. Your Rights and Controls

• Delete your account. Profile → Privacy & Data → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, chats, progress, idioms, and uploaded avatar from our servers.
• Sign out. Profile → Privacy & Data → Sign out. Terminates the current session on this device.
• Access / correction. Email us at sergmochalin@gmail.com to request a copy of your data or corrections.
• Microphone permission. You can revoke microphone access any time in iOS/Android system settings; the app will simply disable speech features.

6. Children's Privacy

Langsy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+. Passwords (for legacy email accounts) are hashed with BCrypt. Tokens are stored on your device in the iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences. We cannot, however, guarantee absolute security of any electronic transmission.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in-app.
